Greetings from co-chair of the Work and Career Topic Network

Good day!  I am delighted to be serving as the new co-chair of the Work and Career Topic Network and wanted to take a moment to introduce myself.  But first, a big thank you to Anne Marshall for the opportunity to join in this capacity.  I look forward to continuing to learn from your leadership, Anne.  Thank you!

I write to you from Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, United States.  I am the Director of Alumni Advising & Development at F&M, where I am a career and professional development coach/consultant for alumni at all stages of their careers (although most of my clients are emerging adults!).  Franklin & Marshall is a small, liberal arts college with about 2,400 students and 26,000 alumni.

I just completed my doctorate this past December; "career transition self-efficacy of emerging adult college graduates" was the topic of my dissertation, so SSEA and this Topic Network, specifically, are near and dear to my heart, my mind, and my work as both an emerging scholar and practitioner.

I am excited to be here and look forward to getting to know all of you and sharing ideas, resources, research, and practices.  I'd love to hear a little about why you decided to join this network and what you hope to get out of our community.  I invite you to share a little about your story by posting a comment to this post or emailing me directly at

Thank you for your engagement!

Tammy J. Halstead, Ed.D.

Director of Alumni Advising & Development

I am hoping we can have a formal or informal meeting at SSEA. It would be nice to talk face-to-face. :)

      Hi Nanci,

Thanks for the comment - yes, Anne and I would like to set a time and space for us all to connect at the conference. We will be in touch with more details as they unfold.

      Hi Nanci,
There is a Topic Network lunch scheduled for noon on Thursday October 15. I thought we might also get together informally on Wednesday evening and/or book a breakfast table at the hotel. Tammy and I are discussing this. We welcome your suggestions.
