The Methods Topic Network announces a pre-conference workshop to the 7th SSEA Conference, to be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2015, chaired by Michael John Cleveland (half-day workshop).

Title: Applying Person-Centered Approaches to Emerging Adult Research: An Introduction to LCA and LTA Models

Presenter: Michael John Cleveland, Penn State University, US

This workshop will focus on the application of person-centered methods in emerging adulthood research: Latent class analysis (LCA) and its longitudinal extension, latent transition analysis (LTA). LCA and LTA are ideal tools for identifying latent subgroups within a population based on individual’s responses to observed variables. The three-hour workshop (from 1 to 4 pm) will include a (1) conceptual introduction to LCA and LTA; (2) an empirical example using SAS software; and (3) an open discussion of how LCA and LTA might be applied in the research of the workshop attendees.
